Incoming President’s Message – September 2014

Dear PSCT Members,

I’m honored to be serving all of you as President during the 87th year Anniversary of the PSCT. Last year we had 60 active members and had great attendance at our monthly meetings. We will be offering a special incentive drawing at the October 13 meeting. If your membership for the 2014 – 2015 year is paid in full by September 30, you will be eligible for the incentive drawing worth $87. The winner of the incentive drawing does not need to be present to win, but we would love to see you at the meeting.

Just a reminder, there is still time to sign up for the September 11th Golf Outing at Cedarbrook Golf Course. As you know, the golf outing is our main fundraiser for the Hiram P. Ball Memorial Scholarship.

Promoting educational scholarship to undergraduate students has been and continues to be a prime objective of the PSCT. Please stay tuned throughout the year to hear updates regarding the requirements for the PSCT Scholarship. If you are interested in participating in the Scholarship Committee please contact Julie Glover at jglover@kta.com.

I am happy to announce that we have several speaker commitments and an exciting line-up of presentations for the coming year, but we are still looking for a few suggestions on presentation topics or speakers. Please consider sharing your expertise at any of our meetings. To start off the year, Terry Wolfe of V&S Galvanizing will be presenting at our September 8th meeting on “Corrosion Protection with Zinc.”

Also, I’d like to thank our new board members who have volunteered to support our 2014 – 2015 year. Those members are: Jim Wasik: Director at Large, Christina Marlier: Vice President (President Elect), Kenneth Cutler: Secretary, and Mark DePasquale: Treasurer. I owe colossal thanks to the 2013 – 2014 board including Cindy O’Malley for her commitment last year as President, Karen Hollerz as Secretary, Christina Marlier as Treasurer, Valerie Sherbondy as Representative to the ACA Society, Gary Balint – Past President 2012-13 and Peter Chakos as Director at Large.

The first meeting this year is scheduled at Domenico’s Ristorante in Cranberry Township. I look forward to seeing you there.

Chrissy Stewart
PSCT President 2014 – 2015
