President’s Message – November 2018

Dear PSCT Members,

I would like to thank Dustin Young and the entire SSPC organization for taking time last month to speak to all of us about ‘Preparing Concrete for Coatings Applications’ as well as look at their mobile training center. It was very interesting to see what is going on in the concrete industry and how training for different applications is progressing.

I would like to remind everyone that we are still looking for Scholarship Committee members for this year’s Hiram P. Ball Memorial Scholarship and STEM Grant.  The only requirement is to be an active member and not have a student applying this year.  Please contact myself or Karen Hollertz if you would like to take part in such a great cause.  Our contact information can be found at the end of this newsletter.  Also, if you have a student that qualifies for the scholarship this year, we urge you to check out the application attached to the end of this newsletter or on our website at paintsociety.org.

Lastly, come and join us at the Roland’s Seafood Grill in The Strip on Monday, November 12th.  This month’s speaker will be Brian Newsome of Applied Minerals.  His talk will be discussing a halloysite material branded as Dragonite.  I hope to see everyone there for what should be a very technically informative talk.

Chris Gehly

PSCT President 2018-2019
